No room at the inn for University Carol Service!

Firth Hall was packed out for the annual University Carol Service. Nearly every seat was taken, with maybe even more people present than for the good turnouts of recent years.

Firth Hall is packed for the 2025 University Carol Service

As always the University Chamber Choir were brilliant, performing two choir-only pieces and leading the singing of Christmas favourites like Once In Royal David’s City and O Little Town of Bethlehem.

The carols were interspersed by Bible readings and prayers, read by staff and students from across the university - including members of student societies.

Our Anglican Chaplain Sue Leather, taking part in her first carol service at this university, gave the address.

Sue spoke about the changing seasons throughout the year bringing hope, just as remembering Christ’s birth also brings hope.

This year’s chosen charity to support was Sheffield Young Carers, who are dedicated to supporting young carers and young people affected by drug/alcohol issues in their family.

Over £300 has been raised. If you want to give, you can do so via this fundraising page.
