Placements, competitions and volunteering all provide valuable ways to develop experience outside of the classroom. Here, our current and former students share their stories.
Kelsey graduated in 2025 and currently works as a Landscape Architect at a planning consultancy called Pegasus group. Their role in the company is to provide landscape design and planning services that help clients achieve outline planning permission for a variety of developments.

Saachi found that her three month summer internship, at Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology, gave her a taste of the professional world, as well as a chance to learn alongside experienced colleagues.
Three weeks volunteering at Sullington Old Rectory immersed Laurie in the experiences of a working gardener and helped her to appreciate the time and persistence it takes to plant the beds she is learning to design.
Poppy completed a three-week placement at Sussex Prairie Garden – Britain’s largest naturalistic garden – in the summer between her second and third year.
