Professional Experience and Development Record
The Professional Experience and Development Record (PEDR) is a standard form devised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for architectural students to record practical experience and professional development, as a key part of their education and towards professional qualification.
PEDR forms are available at the PEDR website. This includes extensive guidance for both students and employers.
You should complete your PEDR every quarter, to record your practical experience, with the support of an employment mentor from your workplace, who you should identify at the earliest opportunity after starting work.
Stage 1 PEDR Monitoring (Part 1 graduates) - Year in Practice
Stage 1 PEDR submissions can be reviewed and signed off by the School of Architecture and Landscape PEDR Monitoring Team during your Year in Practice.
We charge a fee of £250 to cover the cost of monitoring and recording your Stage 1 PEDR for a period of up to two years.
Stage 2 PEDR Monitoring (Part 2 students and graduates)
Stage 2 PEDR submissions can be reviewed and signed off by the School of Architecture and Landscape PEDR Monitoring Team, if required, before enrolling on a Part 3 course (please check with potential Part 3 courses).
We charge a fee of £250 to cover the cost of monitoring and recording your Stage 2 PEDR for a period of one year, or four quarterly PEDR sheets.
Submissions
When you find employment, it may be worth asking your practice whether they will pay or make a contribution to our PEDR fee.
Payment is only required when you are ready to submit your first PEDR, using our online store.
When you have paid your fee to subscribe to the School of Architecture and Landscape PEDR Review process, you will be emailed instructions on how to submit your PEDRs to be reviewed by one of our Professional Studies Advisors using RIBAs PEDR online submission system.
Queries
If you have any queries regarding your PEDR or practice experience, you should refer in the first instance to the PEDR website (this includes information on PEDR Categories of Experience and frequently asked questions).
If you are unable to find the answer to your query on the PEDR website or need to seek additional clarification, email yip@sheffield.ac.uk
