Tuesday 19 May 2026 - 5:00pm to 6:00pm
Description
As part of the ALARM series of talks, Cleo Valentine will give an online talk about the impact of architectural and built environment form on neurophysiological stress responses. The talk introduces the emerging field of architectural neuroimmunology, which examines how architectural form functions as a chronic environmental exposure shaping neurophysiological stress responses, immune regulation, and long-term health.
Drawing on experimental and computational research, it explores how features such as façade patterning, visual complexity, and spatial geometry can elicit measurable stress-related responses. The talk also reflects on the bioethical implications of this work, including questions of responsibility, equity, and regulation in the design of health-supportive built environments.
