Sheffield in America

Sheffield is proud to be a truly international university, with alumni making an impact all over the world. Today, around 4,600 Sheffield graduates call the United States home—some are British expats who built their careers and lives in the States, while others are American alumni who studied in Sheffield, either for their full degree or through our Study Abroad programme.

No matter the distance, there are plenty of ways to stay connected to your beloved alma mater. Here are just a few opportunities to keep you engaged and up to date!

Giving

Sheffield is leading countless impactful projects that need your support. From groundbreaking neurological research to empowering young talent in Sheffield and assisting students facing hardship, alumni in the States and around the world are making a vital difference.

Sheffield’s US donor community has contributed over $1.3m in the last year to fund world-leading research at Sheffield and over $184K to fund undergraduate scholarships. Some world-first projects such as the Gene Therapy Innovation and Manufacturing Centre (GTIMC) wouldn’t be possible without their contributions, a facility that brings hope to countless patients and their families with gene therapies into life-changing treatments. Talented students wouldn’t have had the opportunity to pursue their passions and become who they’re truly meant to be—yet, thanks to scholarships, this is now a reality. And the list of success stories keeps growing!

I know the University does world-class neurological research. I want to help erode the stigma around mental health and alleviate some of that pain for others in future. Sheffield was good to me, and I want to be good to my alma mater.”

It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones, expand your network and get the latest from your University.

Both events will feature keynote speeches from influential alumni, setting the stage for an inspiring and unforgettable evening. See full details below:
