Supporting students
Our students get support throughout their degrees from our dedicated staff. The students also take the lead in organising events and activities through their student societies, and taking opportunities to speak out about what's important to them.
Our support
Our academic and professional staff are committed to giving students everything they need to succeed at the University of Sheffield. All students have a dedicated Year Tutor who provide a point of contact and support for any academic or personal matters, as well as providing study support and careers advice. We also have a Student Engagement Officer in the department who can offer welfare support and signpost students to mental health & wellbeing support services in the university.
Students are invited to join the ACSE Student-Staff Committee, so that they can have their say on the way things work in the department. A huge range of support is also offered by the University's Student Services Information Desk (SSID), whether it’s to do with admin, wellbeing or immigration.
Extra-Curricular Activities
The Sheffield Students Union has been rated No 1 for the past four years - Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017. Many of our students join student societies through the Union, covering a wide range of sports and social activities.
The ACSE Student Society (ACSE Soc’) is run by the students, and aims to provide students with the opportunity to meeting other students within the department. The group is active in organising a range of social and sporting events, and providing support to fellow students on academic choices.
