University Accommodation Guarantee 2026-27

Living in University Accommodation is a great way to settle into your life as a student at the University of Sheffield. Whether you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student, as long as you meet a few conditions you are guaranteed a study bedroom in university accommodation, living with University of Sheffield students.

Please read the guarantee in full for details of the conditions and key dates. To meet the terms of the guarantee you should apply for accommodation no later than 3 September 2026.

First year undergraduate students:

All first year undergraduate students, including Insurance and Clearing students, are guaranteed a study bedroom in University Accommodation providing they apply for accommodation by no later than 3 September 2026:

• If you make the University of Sheffield your Firm choice through UCAS by no later than 24 July 2026, you will be able to apply for accommodation until 26 July 2026. If you miss the 26 July deadline, applications will reopen on 13 August 2026 (A Level results day in the UK).
• If you make the University of Sheffield your Insurance choice through UCAS, and then your place with us is confirmed when you get your results, you will be able to apply for accommodation from 13 August 2026.
• If you accept a study place through Clearing you will be able to apply for accommodation from 13 August 2026.

Postgraduate students:

All postgraduate (taught course and research) students are guaranteed accommodation in University Accommodation providing:

• You accept an offer of a study place at the University of Sheffield on an award-bearing course by no later than 26 July 2026.
• You have met the conditions of your offer, used your CAS number (if applicable) and submitted your accommodation application by no later than 3 September 2026.

All postgraduates are guaranteed accommodation suitable for single occupancy in subsequent years if they are studying a full-time course lasting more than one year.

Study Abroad, Exchange and Visiting students:

If you join the University for a full academic year as a Study Abroad, Exchange or Visiting student, you are guaranteed a study bedroom in University Accommodation if you apply no later than 3 September 2026

Study Abroad, Exchange and Visiting students who require accommodation for one semester only are not guaranteed accommodation. A limited number of study bedrooms are available for students who require accommodation for one semester stays; we would encourage all students to apply for accommodation as early as possible and no later than:

• 25 July 2026 to be considered for a study bedroom in Semester 1
• 14 January 2027 to be considered for a study bedroom in Semester 2

Students with family members:

Students with family members can apply to live in one of our family properties. If you would like to be considered for family accommodation, you should apply for accommodation no later than 3 September 2026. Family accommodation is not guaranteed.
