Andrew Isaac

Andrew has a background in Archaeology, and gained his Masters and PhD in Biomolecular Science. He has worked as a research development professional at the University for over a decade, and currently specialises in Export Control, National Security and Investment Act (NSI) and Due Diligence, leading a team of specialists in these areas. Andrew loves lemon drizzle cookies, especially in long meetings, and out of work, he is an avid cyclist.

Sally Jones

Sally specialises in Export Control and National Security and Investment; by understanding, advising on and managing the changing social-political landscape and applying relevant legislation, she has developed and implemented internal compliance programs, and increased awareness of and adherence with governing regulations. She is also working with Higher Education Export Controls Association (HEECA) and Department for Business and Trade (DBT) to improve export control engagement and processes for HEIs nationally.

Her background in academia, engineering and setting up and running a successful international business is invaluable to her current role, and she brings a fresh perspective to research assurance. Outside of work, Sally enjoys hiking in the peak district and nerding out over board games and D&D.

Sarah Beedham

Sarah is responsible for understanding, managing and advising on collaboration risks for research projects in the AMRC and all our faculties, apart from the Faculty of Health. She also provides support for compliance requests from our external partners and for tender application systems.

Sarah has an educational background in International Relations and Marketing (BA) and International Environmental Management for Business (MSc). She began her professional services career at Sheffield Hallam University, supporting students before moving to the marketing department, where she won two HEIST Marketing awards in 2007. In 2008, she became a Research Support Officer at the University of Sheffield, where she has provided research project and knowledge exchange support to staff and students ever since. She was awarded the Best Member of Non-Academic Staff at The Education Awards in 2014, following a nomination by her students. She is happiest at home pottering in her garden or indulging in her wanderlust for travel.

Tanporn Trakantalerngsak

In her current role as a Due Diligence Officer, Tanporn applies her comprehensive understanding of international collaboration to conduct risk assessments for commercial, third-sector, and international projects, with a focus on consultancy and service rendered projects.

Tanporn began her career in academia, earning an MA and PhD in Japanese Studies and later securing an Assistant Professorship in Japanese Studies (Phonetics). She held positions at Mahidol University in Thailand, and Osaka University in Japan. At Mahidol University, she successfully coordinated the faculty's international affairs, demonstrating a strong capability in partnership building. In 2022, she transitioned to the UK and joined the University of Sheffield's Global Engagement team, before moving into Research Partnerships and Innovation. When not working, Tanporn enjoys exploring new cultures and appreciating multicultural arts like ballet and sumo.
