Tushar joined ScHARR (HEDS section) as a Research Associate (Health Economics and Decision Modelling) in August 2018. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant (Economic Modeller) in a HEOR consultancy firm for over three years in India and the USA.
By training, he hold a BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi and an MSc degree in Statistics and Computing from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India.
Tushar employ knowledge of various modelling techniques in his projects including, state transition, partitioned survival, multi-state and disease transmission dynamic models. He has developed user-friendly decision models for many disease area including oncology and infectious diseases. Besides, he also possess a vast experience in HTA submissions especially in European and Latin American countries. Tushar enjoy programming and has hands-on expertise in variety of tools including Excel (VBA), Mathematica, R, SAS, C++, SPSS and CS-Pro.
Currently, Tushar is working on NIHR pre-doctoral research award. Through this award, Tushar is focusing on methodological issues around statistics and health economic modelling. In particular, he is exploring the following two topic areas: current methodologies for estimating transition probabilities (TPs) in state transition and multi-state models and the potential role of causal inference (CI) in this context. CI methods estimate causal effects in the presence of confounding and could be useful when TPs are estimated from data which are prone to confounding e.g. from observational data or post-randomisation RCT data.

Tushar is currently a member of International Society of Pharmaceutical and Outcome Research (ISPOR) and Health Economics Study group (HESG). Within ScHARR, he is a member of the Modellers Academic Group (MAG) and Statistics Academic Group (StAG). He frequently peer-reviews manuscripts and conference abstracts.
