The quincentennial lecturer for Yorkshire was awarded to Dr Alex Rothman who presented work on anti-inflammatory therapies in atherosclerotic disease highlighting the work of many researchers in the department and the MRC ILA Heart study undertaken with Dr Alison Morton, Professor Julian Gunn and Professor David Crossman in Sheffield that was the first randomised study to demonstrate the therapeutic tractability of inflammation in coronary disease.
