Academic tutoring

Our academic tutors act as a key point of contact to support students throughout their academic journey. In addition, the University provides a range of academic skills support which students can access alongside their programme.

How academic tutors support our students

All our undergraduate and postgraduate taught students have a dedicated academic tutor to act as a key point of contact throughout their studies. Academic tutors support students’ academic progress and career development through personalised conversations.

Students meet their academic tutor at least once per semester and discuss topics such as academic skills development, assessments, employability, module choice and any other concerns students have over their studies. Tutorials can be one-to-one or in small groups, with additional meetings if needed.

Our academic tutors can signpost students to the University’s specialist support services. For example, we have support for issues relating to mental health and wellbeing, visas and immigration, disability support, careers and employability, and academic skills support. These services are available to all students.

Academic tutors can also provide academic references for students as they move into employment or further study.
