*Intended date of travel
- When you complete your Student visa application online, you will confirm your intended date of travel to the UK.
Your visa will be valid to travel to the UK from the latest date of:
- 30 days before your course start date (as stated on your CAS); or
- 7 days before your intended date of travel to the UK
If your visa is issued later than 7 days before your intended date of travel to the UK, it should be valid for travel to the UK with immediate effect.
Where you don’t yet have an unconditional offer for your degree course, your leave entitlement will only be for the length of any preparatory course (English or Foundation).
Check your Student Visa duration
To check your Student Visa duration now that Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) are being replaced with eVisas, you need to access your online immigration status through your Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.
- Access View and prove your immigration status online service: Here, you can view the details of your eVisa. After creating a UKVI account, you can sign in to see your eVisa details. This will display your immigration status, including the expiry date of your Student Visa.
- Check the details: Once you access your eVisa, carefully check the expiry date to confirm the duration of your permitted stay in the UK. If you find an error in your eVisa details, report it to UKVI using the 'Report an error with your eVisa' web page.
If you are unsure if there is an error, contact the ISSAC team.
