Impact of COVID-19 on mesothelioma
This study aimed to monitor the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the experiences of patients with mesothelioma, their carers and the specialist/advanced practice nurses who care for them.
In early 2020 Mesothelioma UK conducted surveys exploring the impact of COVID-19 on patients and on clinical nurse specialists. Our analysis of this data suggested that patients with mesothelioma and their carers were disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
We undertook a further collaborative study with Mesothelioma UK and Lung Cancer Nursing UK to explore the impact of the later stages of the Covid-19 pandemic on the nursing workforce. We conducted a survey of lung cancer and mesothelioma specialist/advanced practice nurses which explored the impact of Covid-19 on their working practices, psychological and emotional wellbeing, and on their patients.
Our publication presents an overview of our findings, and highlights the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on nurses health, wellbeing and clinical practice.
