You get taught by academics who are clearly very passionate about the topics they teach.

Why did you choose your course?
I've always been drawn to creativity and design, and in school, I discovered a love for maths and physics - Civil engineering feels like the perfect blend of those things.
What have you enjoyed most about your course so far?
I love getting hands-on experience to apply the theoretical knowledge to real life.
What advice would you give to a younger student considering studying your course at university?
Prepare yourself for a bigger workload than other courses, and take every opportunity that gets offered to you, make the most of your time in Sheffield!
Are there any particular modules or elements of your course that you have found particularly useful?
The modules taught in first year serve as the building blocks for the rest of the course, CIV1000 Mechanics was particularly useful for framing the way you think about structures and their behaviour.
Are there any specific skills or knowledge you've already gained or things you've learnt which you found particularly interesting?
I really enjoy the course's water-based modules, learning about the way that water behaves and what affects its behaviour is really interesting.
