Who can receive longer library loans?

If you are a part-time, distance (online) learning student you will have been automatically registered for longer loans.

If you are registered with the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service, please speak to your advisor if you feel you would benefit from longer loans.

If you are a commuter student or are a student on placement please contact the Inclusive Learning Team lib-inclusivelearning@sheffield.ac.uk and we will look to register you for longer loans.

What are the longer loan periods?

  • Normal loans - Four weeks.
  • Books reserved by other library customers - Four days.

What happens if a book I have on loan is requested by another user?

All Library customers are expected to comply with the library regulations. This includes returning requested items on time.

If you are unable to return requested items on time due to illness, personal/family problems, difficult events, eg bereavement or serious incidents

  • contact the library as soon as possible
  • present an extenuating circumstances form to a member of library staff at an information desk when you return the item(s)
