What first attracted you to join the University of Sheffield? The well-known Testing group in the Department of Computer Science first attracted my attention.

What do you enjoy most about working at the University of Sheffield? The fact that I could get various support from many others for both teaching and research is the most enjoyable part of working at the University of Sheffield.

What do you enjoy about working with your team/department? I love the collaborative working environment (or even culture) embedded within the Testing group. Apart from teaching/research meetings and lunch time seminars, group social events (e.g., Walk to the Peak District) make us feel connected.

Do you have any favourite memories from working at the University of Sheffield? One day, I returned to my office after a long meeting, and as the sun had already set in the quiet room and only the light from the street lights came through the window, I suddenly felt that this room was meant for me, and I had a proud feeling that I belonged here.

Did you move to Sheffield from another area? How would you describe the experience of moving here to work and live somewhere else? I moved from Luxembourg to Sheffield. I’ve never been in the UK before. Although the move was not as straightforward as it would be before Brexit, moving by my own car over the Ferry (from Calais to Dover) was quite an experience.

What’s your favourite thing about Sheffield as a city? I really like that the city is full of green. It’s also great that the Peak District is so close. I found a few places where the view is magnificent and it is literally 7 minutes walk from my house. I use to go there and take a rest, it feels so relaxing and refreshing.

What would you say to someone who was considering the University as a place to work? TUOS is a great place to work. The staff are very supportive and the academics are well connected. The students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. Also, the city of Sheffield gives you plenty of green space where you can feel refreshed after your long day. With an organised framework for career development in the University, this should be definitely in your shortlist.
