" I am employed as a Car Park Operations Assistant, working in Campus Services, EFM (Estates and Facilities Management). I’ve worked at the University for just over five years. I became an Operations Assistant through a secondment which began in February 2018. Prior to that I worked on another secondment as the EFM Receptionist. At that point I had only been covering EFM Reception for four months, as I was seconded from my initial Cleaning Assistant role. I was a cleaner in the International College of the University, for four months before my secondments began. I had never even heard the word secondment before I joined the University. I’m now most pleased that I have!

I can’t say that there is a single most important thing about working here. Rather, it’s an incredible combination of things that make working here so satisfying. The positive and kind colleagues, together with the great conditions which foster these great vibes. Being able to wear smart clothes and a tie of my choosing is up there too. What’s more, telling my family about the increasingly sophisticated work that I’m able to do is another wonderful facet of my work here.
