Description
Interested in pursuing a career in sustainability after completing your studies? Join the Grantham Centre for our ‘Careers for Sustainable Futures’ event this June. We’re welcoming back two of our alumni to talk about their inspiring career journeys and share some valuable insights, hints and tips to help you secure a role in this rewarding industry.
In the second event of our series, you will hear from Dr Nicole Kennard (Assistant Director for Community-Engaged Research, Georgia Tech), and Dr Rohit Chakraborty (Environmental Public Health Scientist, UK Health Security Agency).
This is the perfect opportunity to explore the diverse roles within sustainability and learn how you can apply your PhD skills to deliver real-world impact. So come along and join our friendly community for this free lunchtime session followed by a Q&A and networking.
Tea and coffee will be provided. Feel free to bring your own lunch.
Places are limited so make sure to grab your ticket soon! Please note that this event is for the University of Sheffield staff and students only.
About our speakers
Dr Nicole Kennard
Nicole is a Research Scientist within the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems, Georgia Tech, and serves as the Assistant Director for Community-Engaged Research. She supports and trains staff across the university in building meaningful and co-creative research partnerships with local communities to address pressing sustainability and societal challenges.
Nicole also leads her own community-engaged research in sustainable food systems. Her work focuses on building resilient, community-focused food systems and uplifting local agriculture, agroecology, and food sovereignty as solutions to the complex, intertwined challenges of food insecurity, climate change, and land degradation.
Dr Rohit Chakraborty
Appointed as an Environmental Public Health Scientist at the UK Health Security Agency, I’m venturing into a chapter where my devotion to air quality takes a national stage. Previously, I served as an Air Quality Scientist at AirRated, focusing on indoor air quality and devising solutions to enhance it.
