Welcome from the President and Vice-Chancellor

Today is a very special occasion as we celebrate the Class of 2026.

Graduation is an important milestone, and an opportunity to recognise the remarkable achievements of our students in gaining a degree from one of the world’s top universities. We are so proud of everything they have accomplished, and wish them every success for their next chapter.

I would like to offer a very warm welcome to everyone who has travelled across the UK, or from around the world, to join us today – as well as those watching on our livestream. Thank you for supporting our students during their time with us.

I hope you all enjoy this day of celebration.

Professor Koen Lamberts

President and Vice-Chancellor

Reasons to be proud 2025-26

Wherever your next chapter takes you, you’ll always be part of the Sheffield community. Here are just some of the reasons to be proud of the impact your University is making across our city, throughout the UK, and around the world.

5,000 items passed on

Run jointly by the University and Students' Union, the Pass It On campaign has collected over 5,000 donations from students to support both new and continuing students - helping our community save money, reduce waste, and champion the University's sustainability goals.

A University of Sanctuary

We provide support for students and academics who are fleeing war, persecution or other disasters in their home country, including providing several funded Sanctuary Scholarships for people who have sought asylum in the UK.

Earth's first 3D forest map

Conceived at the University of Sheffield, the landmark Biomass satellite mission is the first to measure the carbon mass of Earth's most impenetrable rainforests from space.
