What was the highlight of your Placement?

I got the opportunity to work on early lifecycle design work on an upcoming product, support clearance tasks for current in-service aircraft, and lead a project involving the rapid prototyping of new concepts as part of the long term evolution of the platforms. Alongside these roles, I helped develop and run early careers projects for college students, take part in the RAES Aero challenge and represent the business at expos and conferences.

How did you adapt to working during Covid-19?

My placement was extended in order to give me the opportunity to gain more experience in the sector and continue to contribute to the ongoing work of the business during these unprecedented times. I also contributed to a "business challenge" with other early careers colleagues which was fed back to management within the company to help improve on the ongoing continuity planning and identify potential changes to benefit BAE Systems in the future.

How did you find your role?

Using recruitment resources such as RateMyPlacement, Gradcracker, Milkround and TargetJobs.

One piece of advice would you give to students who are considering taking a Placement?

Get as much advice from the Year in Industry team at the university as possible, especially with applications. They are more than happy to help you and are a massive benefit!
