Working in The Diamond

Step inside the state of the art, 20,000m2, Diamond building and you’ll be inspired by what we can offer Engineering students.  It is one of our largest ever investments encompassing world leading facilities in teaching and learning, with 15 specialist laboratories designed to create a fantastic place for interdisciplinary engineering education.   Within the Faculty of Engineering, one of the biggest and best engineering faculties in the UK, sits MEE, an innovative teaching group providing students with the opportunity to realise their full potential as engineering leaders with employable skills.

MEE is a cross-faculty department responsible for delivering practical teaching for the Faculty of Engineering within extensive laboratory and workshop facilities. MEE’s vision is “We collaborate to deliver excellent teaching and memorable learning experiences that transform students into independent, practical Engineers”.

We provide a student centred learning experience that provides the opportunity for students to realise their full potential as engineering leaders: people who will shape the future of the world we live in.

Our staff in the Diamond develop and deliver world-class teaching to support students' development into graduate engineers. We believe practical experience is core to this, providing students with employable skills alongside a hands-on education.

Our team has around 50 members of academic, technical and administrative staff.  The practical teaching covers a range of subject areas designed around 3 main themes:

●   Materials Science, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering

●   Thermodynamics, Mechanics, Structures, Fluids, Manufacturing Technology

●   Electrical, Electronic, Control, Computing & Robotics

We are a collegial team, providing mentoring support for colleagues at all career stages. We welcome candidates from all subject areas and BAME applicants to contribute to the diversity of our team.
