Profile
Bicky Bhangu is a senior executive and technology strategist with global leadership experience across the aerospace, defence and industrial sectors. He served as President – South-East Asia, Pacific and South Korea for Rolls-Royce, where he led operations and advanced technology initiatives across multiple markets.

Bicky is currently the President – United Nations Global Compact Network Singapore. He is a strong advocate for sustainability and smart manufacturing and has played a key role in regional innovation ecosystems, supporting partnerships with governments, academia and industry to drive digital transformation, electrification and future propulsion technologies.

Bicky holds a PhD in Electrical Power Machines and Drives from the University of Sheffield, an MSc in Control Systems Engineering (also from Sheffield) and an undergraduate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham and an MBA in Technology Management. Bicky is an adjunct Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS).

In recognition of his contributions to international trade and innovation, he was awarded an OBE in 2019 and honorary doctorates by the University of Sheffield and the University of Nottingham in 2024.

His current research interests include aerospace, electric vertical take-off and land (eVTOL) technologies, energy storage systems for land transportation, the integration of smart manufacturing systems and technologies supporting energy transition. 
 
Bicky is supporting the University of Sheffield in developing new joint ventures (JV) and strategic partnerships across South East Asia. Bicky's work includes exploring collaborative research opportunities, fostering academic–industry engagement and helping establish new institutional links that align with the University’s internationalisation goals. Bicky is also contributing to discussions around potential apprenticeship programmes and talent development pathways, particularly those connecting the UK and Southeast Asian innovation ecosystems.
