Profile

I received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico de Ciudad Madero, Mexico, in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

I received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK, in 2015.

In 2015, I was awarded with the Doctoral Control & Automation Dissertation Prize 2015 by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), for my thesis entitled “Switched Linear Differential Systems”, supervised by Prof. Paolo Rapisarda.

From 2015 to 2021 I was a faculty member of the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico.

In August 2021 I was appointed as Lecturer of Electrical Machines and Drives at The University of Sheffield, UK.

I am Associate Editor of the Mathematical Problems in Engineering journal since 2020. And I am a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) in Mexico.

My research is based on the combination of elements of control theory, power electronics and energy distribution systems.

For instance, I am interested in the development of novel linear and nonlinear control design techniques for power converters and smart grid technologies. This involves addressing particular stability or performance problems in energy management.

I am also interested in the development of new topologies (DC-DC and DC-AC) with high efficiency, low cost, high voltage gains, reduced ripples, etc.

I also work on the development and application of micro-synchrophasors for distribution networks with high penetration of renewable energy; and energy storage systems.

I have published more than 60 journal papers in international journals about the aforementioned topics.
