Catarina is a Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow in the Department of Oncology and Metabolism. Her work bridges the interests of the Bateson Centre and the MRC/ARUK Centre for Integrated Research in Musculoskeletal Ageing.
Catarina was the first person to characterise ageing in the telomerase deficient zebrafish, thereby establishing the world's first model organism which ages in a telomere-dependent manner.
Catarina’s Fellowship uses this model to understand the interaction of immunity and cellular senescence in Ageing.
