A very warm welcome to MSc Sustainable Architecture Studies, which we call “SAS”. My name is Gareth, I will be your Programme Leader for SAS.

Together with Faith your Programme Co-lead and your module leaders we are very much looking forward to starting the new term with you. We are passionate about sustainability, architecture and design, through which we can make a difference.

Our students give us energy and enthusiasm to do a better job every day. We want to make sure when they graduate, they are well placed in the world to enhance it.

When you join the course, you can expect great learning opportunities with high profile and enthusiastic tutors, who care for their students. The course offers a friendly community of students and tutors with great career prospects and hopefully excellent contributions to the world.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week is a very important part of your introduction to the school, your studies and the University. It starts on Monday 23 September, 2024.

The first full week of the Autumn Semester starts on Monday 30 September, 2024. During Welcome Week you will be introduced to members of staff who will support you during your time studying here.

Buying computer equipment

It’s up to you if you wish to bring your own laptop. As a student on the MSc in Sustainable Architecture Studies course you will be introduced to a range of simulation software. Most of this software only runs under the Windows platform but can be run on Apple computers with Windows installed.

The school has a computer lab that you can use and the wider University has many more, some with 24 hour access. If you are thinking of buying or bringing a computer then please check the system requirements for Revit 2025. (Aim for the ‘Value’ or ‘Performance’ specification.)

All of the software we use is available free on University computers and some is available free for you to install on your own computer.

We are extremely excited for the start of term and can’t wait to meet you and get started.
