Profile

I am a practicing architect with experience working on a large range of projects including high value commercial, educational and residential schemes across all RIBA stages. I am a university tutor, floral designer and salsa dancer. I am interested in exploring different creative disciplines and the cross-over between academia, community and practice.

I take an open and curious approach to design and working processes and enjoy facilitating workshops with diverse groups of people who bring together different ideas and insights. Curiosity and openness are foundational to my teaching methods, working relations and design process. I recognise and celebrate difference in views, skills and approaches as I believe that developing how to collaborate, listen and interpret information is a significantly important part of both the design and learning process.

Qualifications

BA (Hons) Architecture
MArch Collaborative Practice

Research interests

Building retrofit, low-carbon design, eco-systems and biodiversity, cross-over between academia and practice, social inclusivity within architectural education and practice, collaborative design workshops.

Teaching interests

My teaching interests lie in exploring suitable architectural responses to the climate emergency. Currently my studio teaching focuses on utilising existing buildings and resources to produce low impact, low carbon retrofit designs.

I am interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and the cross-over between architectural education and practice. I believe it’s important to work with real world organisations and develop projects in conjunction with communities in order to develop a sense of grounding and understanding of real world problems, and how we can use our design skills to benefit people, communities and contemporary issues.
