Nuala joined the University of Sheffield in July 2025 as a Senior Teacher with the Pharmacy Practice team.
Prior to this, Nuala worked extensively in postgraduate pharmacy education. From 2016 - 2023 she was Education Supervisor and Senior Pharmacist on the lead team for Primary Care Pathways at the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education, hosted by the University of Manchester. From 2010 - 2016 she was Senior Lecturer in postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy and Course Leader for postgraduate Independent Prescribing for Pharmacists at De Montfort University, Leicester.
In recent years, Nuala has developed an interest and expertise in education for sustainable healthcare. From 2023 - 2025 Nuala was lead facilitator on the education team at the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, developing and delivering educational resources for the transformation to sustainable healthcare across the healthcare setting in the UK and further afield. Alongside her role at the University of Sheffield, Nuala continues in a part time capacity as Pharmacy Lead for the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare.
In the clinical setting, Nuala has worked across hospital, community pharmacy and primary care settings. For much of her clinical career, Nuala was a prescribing pharmacist in the general practice setting.
Nuala has been a registered pharmacist since 1995.

Nuala’s research interests lie in pedagogy.
She has a particular interest in education for sustainable healthcare for all healthcare professionals at both undergraduate and post qualification level.
Nuala has previously undertaken research on the role of pharmacy professionals in the general practice setting and has an interest in the development of clinical and consultation skills for pharmacy professionals.
