Dear new and returning students at the University of Sheffield, Health Sciences School, Division of N&M, Ophthalmology and Orthoptics and HCS.

I wish to extend to you all a very warm welcome, at the start of this academic year 2020-2021.

Whilst I am sure you appreciate that the pandemic means this new academic year is quite different to normal, please be assured that we remain committed to providing you with an excellent student experience, whilst prioritising your safety. Most importantly, we welcome you into a supportive, collegial community where your education and wellbeing is our priority.

Whilst we will all be doing our best to provide you with a degree of certainty and continuity, there may be occasions during this semester where changes are introduced, and at times, quickly. So please do keep checking back to the University COVID-19 guidance and information for students on Coronavirus Covid-19: latest information and our Autumn term 2020 webpages, for all the most up to date information including that relating to financial support, well-being, study support and more.

In addition, you will always find much support from your personal tutors and Programme Leads for your course, so if you do have any queries or concerns please do get in touch with them.

May I wish you all the best for your studies this year, keep safe and well, follow the guidelines and importantly, have an excellent student experience.

If you do have any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch.

With kind regards,
