Open day food and drink

​​There are loads of places to eat on campus, whether you want to grab a quick sandwich on the move or a chance to sit down and reflect over lunch. You can take food away from any of our venues. 

We have Halal, vegetarian and vegan options available across all catering outlets on our campus.

Please note that all campus outlets are now cashless. Please note, our outlets and opening times may vary slightly between events. The outlets and opening times below are up to date for our 20 June 2026 event.

In our Students’ Union

• Coffee Revolution (8.30am to 4pm), Level 3
  Great coffee, and all fairtrade, so you’ll be contributing to a better deal for third world producers. There are lots of freshly made lunch options and plenty of cakes and pastries to choose from.
• Grill & Go (11am to 3pm), Level 3
  Serving up a great selection of burritos, wraps and salad bowls. Choose your salad,  filling and sauces and have the lunch that  you want. Halal, vegan & vegetarian options available.
• Our Shop (8.30am to 4pm), Level 3
  If you just want to grab and go, you will find a good selection of choices including sandwich meal deals, salads, noodle pots, confectionery, hot & cold drinks and much more.
• Baked (10am to 3pm), Level 3
  We're passionate about our mouthwatering sausage & vegan sausage rolls, tasty pasties, savoury bakes, and pizza slices, all Baked to perfection. Baked offers a delicious range of freshly baked goods, alongside hot and cold drinks and fantastic meal deals to satisfy any appetite.

In our academic department buildings

• John’s Van at the Arts Tower cafe (10am - 2pm) 
  An independently run cafe operating in the basement of the iconic arts tower building. From fine Italian coffee and bacon or sausage sandwiches to pizzas, toasties and more, our arts tower cafe specialises in locally produced artisan ingredients. John’s Van has been a staple of Sheffield university students for over 40 years, and took up residency in the arts tower in January 2026.
• Information Commons cafe (9am to 4pm)
  This busy cafe provides a great range of hot and cold snacks to feed the body and mind whilst you’re hard at work. Grab a meal deal - choice of sandwich or panini, snack and a barista coffee.
• Diamond Kitchen (9am to 4pm)
  Open for breakfast in the morning and offering  Grill & Go burritos, wraps and salad bowls for lunch. The Diamond Kitchen also serves coffee and a selection of cakes and pastries.
• Jessop cafe (9am to 3pm)
  A centrally located coffee shop with a great atmosphere. Offering a wide variety of hot and cold food made on site.
• Heartspace cafe (9am to 4pm)
  Great coffee and a range of cakes, cookies and snacks on offer, alongside our range of delicious salads and freshly made hot dishes.
• Wave Kitchen (9am to 4pm)
  From pancakes and pastries at breakfast to hot sandwiches, burgers and fresh salads at lunch, there’s something for everyone. Try our famous muffuletta sandwich - fresh sourdough bread filled with layer after layer of cured meats, pesto, mozzarella and roast veg.
• Cafe 1828 at the Medical School (9am to 4pm)
  Located in the Medical School, cafe 1828 serves meal deals and jacket potatoes, as well as great coffee and cakes.

Elsewhere on campus

• Octagon cafe (9am to 4pm)
  Nestled within the iconic Octagon Building, just to the left of the Main Hall, the Octagon Lounge offers the perfect place to relax and unwind, serving freshly stone-baked pizzas and barista-style coffee.
• The University Arms pub (11am to 11pm)
  Just around the corner from the Information Commons library, this one of a kind University-owned pub serves real ales and locally sourced pub food with one of the best beer gardens in the city.

At Endcliffe student accommodation

• Edge Bar (11am to 5pm)
  One of the best social hubs on campus with an extensive food and drink range. We always have something going on, including weekly quiz nights, live sport and Residence Life activities.
• Endcliffe Hut (9am to 3.30pm)
  Just outside The Edge building, you’ll find our bright and colourful hut serving freshly stone-baked pizzas, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and a range of hot and cold drinks — perfect for grabbing something tasty on the go.

On the Students’ Union concourse 

Visit one of our external food vendors offering a variety of cuisines (subject to availability).

• The Greedy Greek (9.30am to 4pm) - a popular, family run business which opened in Sheffield in 2003. Selling authentic, fresh, home made Greek food.
• The Potato Man (9:30am to 4pm) - We provide healthy, delicious Jacket Potatoes cooked to perfection in our traditional Pickwick Oven, with a choice of everybody’s favourite hot and cold fillings. 
• The Garrison (9:30am - 4pm)  - We are showcasing a small pop up of our restaurant; The Garrison Wickersley, to give a small taster of Yorkshire. Our food offering will be a homage to our restaurant's opening and the Yorkshire culture, serving Yorkshire pudding wraps, and rosemary and thyme buttered roast potatoes, with the option of ‘Hendos’ gravy to dip. 
• B’reyt Dough (9:30am - 4pm) - We’re passionate about bringing restaurant-quality pizza to every event. As a mobile pizza business, we use only the finest quality ingredients and fresh homemade dough, hand stretched to order. We bring delicious Neapolitan style pizzas straight to you, serving great food with exceptional quality and service. Head over to our restaurant in Kelham Island too! 
• Complimentary fruit coolers (10am to 3pm)

At Jessop West Piaza

• Frosty Temptation  (10am - 3pm) - a local, vintage-style ice cream cart serving Sheffield and the surrounding areas, known for their delicious, locally sourced Our Cow Molly ice cream 
• Forge Bakehouse (10am - 3pm) -  a highly regarded Sheffield based independent artisan craft bakery offering exceptional pastries and baked goods
