Sylvia Vetter is an environmental modeller at the University of Aberdeen. She joined the group of Prof. Pete Smith in 2012 and has worked since then with different models and tools to estimate greenhouse gas emissions and the mitigation potential from different land uses. Her research evolves around climate change and understanding the impacts of human activities on the environment, specifically emitted greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, grasslands and land use change, impacts on soil (soil organic carbon, soil health) and possible mitigation options.
Sylvia holds a degree in hydrology (Dipl.Hydrol.; TU Dresden, Germany; 2008) and completed her doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.; TU Dresden, Germany) in 2016.
