Dr Harriet Smith is a Researcher working with the Understanding Risk Group in the School of Psychology at Cardiff University. She recently joined the social science team working on public perceptions of Greenhouse Gas Removal via Enhanced Rock Weathering. Her research interests span public perceptions of industrial energy transitions and technology changes. She recently completed a project funded by IDRIC looking at industrial plans for change to meet Net Zero in South Wales. Harriet has experience of ethnographic, participatory and deliberative research methods. She often designs engagement tools that situate and explore local plans using visual and arts based methods. Harriet has an interdisciplinary background and skill set having worked in visual cultures, sociology, geography and environmental social psychology. She is interested in socio-material infrastructures and how visual depictions enact with material infrastructures in Place.
