Lost/stolen passports

If your passport has been lost or stolen, here are the steps you should follow.

On

1: Report the loss or theft

Report the loss or theft to the local police and keep all the evidence that you have done this such as a reference number, police report letter, or email confirmation.

2: Get a replacement passport

Apply for a replacement passport from your country’s embassy. Check your own government's website for details of the nearest embassy and how to apply.

3: Inform UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) of your new passport details

If you have an eVisa

Sign into your UKVI account, go to Personal Details, then 'add new identity document' and follow the instructions. You must do this before you travel.

If you only have a visa as a sticker (vignette) in your passport

  • If you are in the UK you can create an online account in order to access an eVisa.
  • If you are outside the UK you will need to transfer your visa to the new passport.

4. Inform the University

Contact Student Registry to update your new passport details.

If you're unsure of your situation, contact ISSAC and we will give you individual advice depending on your particular circumstances.
