TEC-LD
Sheffield SSCR has secured funding for an important and timely collaboration between Co-Leads Dr Liz Croot and Dr Alice Dunning from the School of Medicine and Population Health and colleagues from the Centre for Care/CIRCLE and the Faculty of Social Science in the TEC-LD project.
The project, Enhancing Transparency, Explainability, and Consent in Technology for adults with learning disabilities (TEC-LD), aims to find out what non-specialist and everyday technology is currently being used for adult social care tasks that would normally require human assistance, and to better understand the risks and the benefits associated with this. Liz, Alice and the team will work directly with adults with learning disabilities, their family members, informal caregivers, and social care providers to create helpful resources together that will explain the risks and benefits to help people make informed decisions about how to safely use non-specialist technology for care.
