This new hub will be established as part of the NIHR’s Research Support Service (RSS). A total of £4.9m has been awarded to the RSS Hub to manage and operate the new specialist centre, from 1 February 2025 to 31 September 2028.
The centre will provide free access to support, advice and expertise in the development and delivery of social care research across the remit of the NIHR for researchers in England, including a specific aim to increase children's social care applications. Researchers will be able to access the methodological advice and support they require, from the initial research idea to the final outcomes. As part of the core leadership team for the hub, Dr Michaela Rogers will embark on the role of national lead for developing practitioner research.
This specialist hub will add to the growing portfolio of applied social care research and impact activity across the University, including CIRCLE, the ESRC Centre for Care and the IMPACT Centre in the Faculty of Social Sciences, and recent success as a new member of the NIHR’s School for Social Care Research.
