Access to Sheffield (Y13 to Uni)
Access to Sheffield (Y13 to Uni) is a programme of support for Y13 students who have taken part in one of our sustained programmes or summer schools during Y12.
What is Access to Sheffield (Y13 to Uni)?
The Access to Sheffield (Y13 to Uni) programme is made up of three main elements:
Online events
You will be invited to a series of online events, covering a range of topics, to help support you throughout Y13 in the lead up to starting university and equip you to make informed decisions. These include topics such as:
- UCAS & Personal statements
- Student Finance
- Post application support
- Accommodation
- Support for Disabled students
- Study Skills
Mentoring
Throughout Y13 you will have the opportunity to apply for a mentor.
Our Mentors are current University of Sheffield students who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and degree specialisms.
You’ll participate in virtual weekly sessions with your assigned mentor throughout the programme.
These sessions will help you develop your skills, improve your understanding of university life and provide opportunities for you to reflect on your journey through school and beyond.
You’ll cover a variety of topics and skill-based sessions, which are bespoke and individually tailored to your individual needs and circumstances.
The mentoring experience will help you develop confidence, maintain good wellbeing and raise your attainment.

Academic Tutoring
If you have participated in either the Access to Sheffield Summer School or Sutton Trust summer school then you may be eligible to apply for academic tutoring Delivered in partnership with Study Mind.
Carried out in an A-level subject of your choice, you will benefit from personalised one-to-one virtual tutoring, in topics you are finding more challenging as well as focusing on exam techniques and study skills.
Who is Access to Sheffield (Y13 to Uni) for?
This programme of support is available for any Y13 student who has taken part in one of our Access to Sheffield (Y12-13) programmes, Access to Sheffield summer school, Sutton Trust Summer School or Realising Opportunities.
