Abstract
This paper argues that contemporary asylum systems reconfigure hospitality into a conditional and transactional mode of governance, compelling refugees to continuously perform worthiness, compliance, and gratitude in order to access protection and care.

Short Bio
Abida Younas is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Warwick, UK. Her research broadly engages with postcolonial and refugee studies, with a particular focus on South Asian and Middle Eastern contexts. Her previous monograph examines contemporary Anglo-Arab writing through the critical-theoretical framework of Deleuze and Guattari, revising the concept of minor literature in relation to emerging postcolonial literary forms. Dr Younas has published in several peer-reviewed journals and have delivered invited talks at national and international conferences in Pakistan, the UK, Europe, and the United States.
