We are excited to hear that Martin White, one of our Sheffield authors, has been awarded best paper of 2023 by the Business Information Review journal published by Sage. Martin’s paper was based on one of three books which he has published with us, Workarounds: the benefits and the risks. Published on the Sheffield Pressbooks Network in July 2023, Martin’s book has been viewed over 1200 times and downloaded over 300 times. You can read more about Martin’s paper and his award on his LinkedIn profile.
This award is in addition to two others Martin received in the last 12 months. In November, the UK electronic information Group (UKeiG) announced that Martin was the winner of both the international Jason Farradane and Tony Kent Strix Memorial Awards for 2023. The Jason Farradane Award is presented in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the library and information science profession and the Tony Kent Strix Memorial Award is given in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the field of search and information retrieval.
Martin’s three books are available to read on the Sheffield Pressbooks Network, a service which supports the creation and adaptation of open textbooks and other open educational resources (OER) by members of the University of Sheffield. If you are interested in using the platform, please email oer@sheffield.ac.uk. Further information about University Library support for OER is available on the Library website.
We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Martin on his successful year.
