Prof. Simon Keefe elected to second term as President of the Royal Musical Association

Professor Simon Keefe, J.R. Hoyle Chair of Music, has been re-elected President of the Royal Musical Association, extending his leadership of the UK’s oldest music society as it continues to champion music and musicians nationwide.

Simon Keefe, J.R. Hoyle Chair of Music in the School of Languages, Arts and Societies, has recently been elected to a second term as President of the Royal Musical Association, the UK's oldest and most prestigious learned society for Music, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024.  He is the 30th President in the Association's history, and his term of office will now continue until the end of December 2029.  Simon states: "I am delighted to be able to continue to serve the RMA, and our UK musical communities, in the years ahead.  This is a difficult time for our discipline, and indeed for the humanities in general, and I look forward to actively advancing the case for music in its myriad forms and to supporting musicians at all career stages and in all subdisciplines."
