How did you first hear about your scholarship?

I learned about the scholarship by exploring the IDA website.

What made you choose to study at Sheffield and your course?

I was very inclined to choose Sheffield because it is a very good and high-achieving school. Also, by chance, one of my dad’s friends is a professor at the University in the Physics department and he spoke very highly of the school. I chose Economics because I enjoy math-related subjects and an Economics degree is very versatile for whatever path I choose in the future.

Also the opportunity to join IDA. IDA was the first conversion and then finding out that IDA academic partner was the University of Sheffield, made the decision easy.

How did you research the University to find out about studying in Sheffield?

I looked at the University website. The page I spent the most time on was the course catalog where I looked through the modules that I would take for a variety of classes. The support was outstanding and helped me throughout my journey at the university and IDA.

How do you hope your time at Sheffield will prepare you for your long-term career goals?

I am sure that balancing a difficult schedule that includes intense soccer, rigorous school, and living by myself for the first time will provide a good challenge that will prepare me for whatever I will face in the future.

What are you most looking forward to experiencing in the city of Sheffield outside of your studies?

I have never lived in a city, so I am very excited to explore and experience a new style of life. I have so far enjoyed being able to find new things each day by simply walking around.

What advice would you give to other international students considering applying for a scholarship at Sheffield?

My advice is this: first, secure your university offer and meet all academic requirements early — you can’t be considered without them. Research every scholarship option carefully, note all deadlines, and don’t leave it until the last minute. When you apply, be genuine, share your real story, your goals, and why Sheffield is the right place for you. Don’t hide from your challenges.
