I am motivated to do the best I can in my studies to prove to the university that they made the right choice awarding me a scholarship

It feels amazing to be awarded a scholarship from the University of Sheffield! I was absolutely elated when I first found out. It not only gave me a sense of achievement but also the fact that I was wanted by the university, a feeling that is quite rare. I first heard about the scholarship at a university event in Istanbul hosted by one of the university's representatives in Turkey, EDUKAS. I was also able to sit with a staff member from the University and talk about different aspects of the university as well as the scholarship. 

I decided to study at Sheffield because I really liked the city and the student lifestyle that I saw and heard about. I also knew that my Mechanical Engineering course is one of the best in the country, and the facilities were also cutting-edge and new. Mainly however, it was the fact that I was offered a scholarship to study at the university. I found it useful when researching to speak with previous students from Turkey who had gone to the university and I also used the University of Sheffield website extensively to find all other information that I needed. 

Now I am here living in Sheffield, I am really enjoying the student lifestyle – living on my own and the freedom of making my own decisions. I also enjoy the independence that I have, as I can arrange my life the way it suits me best. Being awarded the scholarship has made the financial burden on me and my parents much easier and so it feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders. It also motivates me to do the best I can in my studies to prove to the university that they made the right choice.

Sheffield will open a lot of doors for you, but you need to make sure that you are always going to be open to them. In the future, my dream is to be an engineer in a Formula One team and be part of championship winning dynasties.
