My Sheffield degree has made me feel confident enough to handle any situation
What are your main responsibilities in your current role?
I'm running an agro based startup where I cater corporates on pan India basis. We as a team keep looking for new markets to expand into within India and help small traders and farmers by offering them better price for their crops. It involves a lot of negotiation and coordination with various third parties (logistics, freight) involved.
Please outline your career history: how did you get to where you are today?
I worked as a promoter and host for Viva La Fiesta in U.K, after volunteering for a couple of occasions helping international students and the International Language Festival. After coming to India, I worked as a Content writer for Foodpanda and later joined a startup called Hometurph (offering Personal concierge services for NRIs), where I worked as a Team Leader and got promoted to a managerial position soon. While working with these startups, I gained enough exposure and confidence to setup my own startup which was doing quite well until Covid arrived. However, i'm still doing fine trying to make required changes to work in the current situation.
Why did you want to come to the University of Sheffield to study your chosen degree?
I wanted to understand every small gimmicks about Marketing since it's the core of any business. If you are able to sell your product/service to the target customer then you are simply hitting the right track. I am more than satisfied with my course (especially my stay in Sheffield) which offered me so many opportunities to not just learn but practice the same in real life. It was a life changing opportunity.
What were your favourite things about or best memories of the University of Sheffield?
The university library access 24/7 (Information Commons) made my student life wonderful. The city is safe and joyful. The student union always offers something exciting for students from all backgrounds. The support I got from lecturers helped me a lot during my coursework. I made so many friends for life and travelled around Europe with them. They also came to my wedding in India.

It's not just a tag that you wear but you actually feel confident enough to handle any situation at your workplace right after completion of your degree. The course is designed so well that it integrates every aspect of what's going on in the Corporate world. Solving real life case studies and working with so many nationalities expands your horizon for sure.
