Description

We are organising an Industry Day on Biomaterials for Wound Healing and Transdermal Drug Delivery on Friday 21 March 2025, 10:00 - 15:00 at Mappin Hall, Mappin Building, University of Sheffield.

This is a great opportunity to deliver a talk on a relevant topic or present a poster (there are two best poster prizes sponsored by the SCI South Yorkshire and the Humber Group). There will be a fantastic range of industrial, academic and clinical presentations.  Share your work and keep updated in this area.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Keynote Talk: Dr John Duckworth, Senior Scientist, Electrospinning Company From concept to clinic: advancing corneal repair with biosynthetic materials
  • Craig Murdoch, Professor in Oral Bioscience, University of Sheffield, Mucoadhesive electrospun-based drug delivery patches for oral inflammatory diseases
  • Chaozong Liu, Professor of Orthopaedic Bioengineering, University College London, Coaxial electrospinning of structurally robust liposome-loading nanofibers
  • Eliot Amadi, PhD Student, University of Sheffield, 3D printed bacterial cellulose/alginate hydrogel scaffolds, for potential use in chronic wound therapy
  • Jake Edmans, Research Associate, University of Sheffield, Electrospinning polymersomes into bead-on-string polyethylene oxide fibres for the delivery of biopharmaceuticals to mucosal epithelia
  • Dr Julian Dye, CEO, Oxartis, ProMatrix BioDerm, a novel regenerative tissue scaffold modality for  skin-loss reconstruction without scarring?’
  • Robyn Macartney, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University College London, Highly mucoadhesive patches for the treatment of chronic oral wounds
  • Helen Colley, Professor of Tissue Engineering, University of Sheffield, Advanced tissue engineered oral mucosa and skin for use as drug delivery test platforms
  • Adam Dundas,  Assistant Professor, University of Nottingham, Next generation bio-instructive polymer microparticles for wound care
  • Andrea Mele, Co-founder and CEO,  PHAsT, Healing reimagined: leveraging PHAs potential in wound healing and transdermal delivery with PHAsT’s vision

The Industry Day is being organised by Professor Ipsita Roy, School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering, Faculty of Engineering along with Professor Jonathan Knowles, University College London. This event is funded via their joint EPSRC project.

This is a free event, lunch and tea/coffee will be provided.
