I am a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow since May 2024. Before coming to Sheffield, I completed my PhD in Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin, a BPhil in Philosophy and a MSt in Ancient Philosophy at the University of Oxford, and a BA in Classics at the University of Manchester. I am currently working on an extended project about pain measurement

Research interests

Laurenz’s work lies at the intersection of the history and philosophy of science, the philosophy of medicine, and the philosophy of mind. He is primarily interested in foundational problems in the study of pain.
