To launch this progressive campaign, a dynamic panel of thought-leaders will come together to discuss some of the world’s most pressing issues. There will also be a lively networking opportunity where you’ll have the chance to meet Sheffield’s best and brightest minds, and connect with other distinguished alumni and associates.

A university's role in shaping the future: What more can we do?

Each with their own unique connection to Sheffield, your panelists for the event will reflect on the role of universities and the ways in which they can drive social change.

  • Ade Solanke - Award-winning playwright and author 
  • Andy Haldane - Chief Executive of the RSA and former Chief Economist at the Bank of England 
  • Professor Lee Elliot Major - UK’s first professor of social mobility and former Chief Executive of the Sutton Trust
  • Professor Dame Pamela Shaw - Director of the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN)

Broadcaster and former BBC correspondent Professor Marie Kinsey will be your chair, with renowned broadcaster Dan Walker as your Master of Ceremonies.
