School of English offer holder days
As part of your offer holder day at Sheffield, you'll be spending some quality time getting to know the School of English and your chosen course, whether that's a single honours or a dual degree.
Arriving at Your Session
You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 4.30pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.
Your arrival location is: The Diamond, Lecture Theatre 3. If you are coming on the 7th of March, your arrival location will be The Diamond, Lecture Theatre 6. You can view this on our interactive campus map. There will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.
If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.
When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one parent/supporter at the department activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department will be unable to accommodate any additional unbooked visitors.
However, you're welcome to bring additional parents/supporters to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage them to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.

Activities
We run a range of activities on our applicant days and the below examples will give you an insight into what you could be doing on the day.
Welcome Talk
In this introductory activity, we will tell you about the School of English and give you an overview of our research and teaching.
Course-specific taster session
Experience a sample seminar delivered by an academic member of staff from the School of English. Based on our current teaching, this seminar gives you an authentic insight into the student experience here at Sheffield.
Refreshments with staff and ambassadors
An opportunity for an informal mingling session with staff and student ambassadors, with refreshments provided. Staff and our student ambassadors will make their way around to everybody in the room to talk about life in the School of English.
Informal Q&A with staff and students
Once applicants have returned from the taster session, we can shift to a more structured Q&A session to answer any final questions that anyone may have.
Dual honours drop-in session
If you're a dual honours offer holder, you'll have the opportunity to join a dedicated drop-in session in Jessop West foyer between 12.30-2pm. This is your chance to meet and chat with our staff teaching dual honours degrees, current dual honours students, explore your course in more detail and ask any questions.
