Profile

I am currently a Senior Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Sheffield. I also serve as Sustainability Lead for the School of Clinical Dentistry, where I focus on mitigating our environmental impacts in educational, clinical and research spaces.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery with Honours from the Universidad Cardenal Herrera, Valencia, Spain, where I received distinctions/honours in numerous subjects, including: Conservative Dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.

After qualifying as a dentist, I worked in a variety of dental settings in the UK before starting my role at the University of Sheffield in 2017. I have also been lucky enough to provide patient care in numerous European countries, including the UK, Spain and Sweden.

Prior to my role in Sheffield, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Minimal Intervention Dentistry at King’s College London, and I passed the examinations and became a member of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

I enjoy all aspects of Restorative Dentistry, although I have a particular interest in Periodontology, and I am currently completing my specialty clinical training in this discipline.

I completed further clinical training to a Master’s level in Restorative Dentistry with distinction in 2019. I was awarded my PhD in 2025, and my research explored dental education across Europe and included developing a curriculum development model that used environmental sustainability as a case study.

Externally, I represent the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) as a taskforce member for the Graduating European Dentist curriculum.

Research interests

I have a keen interest in dental education research. My research currently focuses on exploring dental and oral health professional education across Europe and sustainability in dental education. I also have numerous publications in the field of pre-clinical skills training and simulation in dentistry.

I was the lead for The University of Sheffield in an Erasmus+-funded project titled "O-Health-Edu". This pan-European project included eight other University partners from across Europe and the Association for Dental Education in Europe. The project aimed to understand the current state of dental education in Europe and to provide a vision for dental education in the future. The publications associated with this work can be found below and provide critical information around dental education processes across Europe.

I am currently collaborating with numerous schools worldwide to support their approaches to embedding environmental sustainability in medical and dental education.
