Curated data sets from an existing database - Category 2 data request
Access is provided to a curated dataset from an existing research database for single use projects to answer specific approved research questions.
This refers to a request for a data extract from the CUREd+ database to be used by a research group identified and stipulated in the data sharing agreement, and will only be used to answer the research question stipulated in the analytic protocol. Data access to the virtual machine will be removed or destroyed at the end of the project in accordance with the instructions stipulated in the data sharing agreement.

Obtain research ethics approval
All research groups will be required to submit an ethics application before Data Connect can begin working on data applications. Research projects that do not obtain ethical approval, will not be taken on.

Complete the CUREd+ Data Access Request Form (DARF)
Complete and submit the CUREd+ DARF form on the CUREd+ webpage.
The application includes a lay summary of the project, data fields required for the project and data fields required to define the cohort in the study. The application also requires you to name and identify all the researchers who will need access to data on the secure data service.
Once submitted your application will be reviewed by a member of the team and if requirements are met the application will be put forward to the Data Access Committee.
Complete the necessary information governance documents and training
All staff on the project that require access to data will be required to complete the following training:
Information governance training
Secure Data Service onboarding training and documentation
- RONIN training (if new to the Secure Data Service)
- Sign agreement (every user on each project, even if they have signed on previous projects)
Data Sharing Agreement
Following review by the Data Access Committee, if the application is successful a Data Sharing Agreement will be prepared. This must be signed by the recipient researcher and recipient organisation. Once in place, access to the Virtual Machine with the data can be granted to the research team.
