Over the course of 2 days, staff and students from across the Faculty of Health met at The Wave to showcase our research, including several members of the CURE research group. We've listed some of the CURE contributions to the Research and Innovation day here!
Presentations:
- Suzanne Ablard presented her findings from the handover delays project. She led the qualitative element of the project, which included in-depth semi-structured interviews with chief operating officers, strategic leads and frontline managers across six EDs in Acute NHS Trusts, as well as with staff from YAS. Her presentation was titled 'Implementing the “Rapid Release Protocol” in Emergency Departments across Yorkshire: A rapid qualitative evaluation'
- Yazeed Sonbol (CURE PhD Student) presented findings from his PhD in his presentation titled 'Evaluation of the Diagnostic and Prognostic Accuracy of Admission Venous Lactate in the Assessment of Suspected Sepsis Patients in the Emergency Department'. His supervision team includes CURE member Professor Steve Goodacre.
- Sheeba Ancy Koilpillai presented an update on the The Smart Health Research Database. The presentation was titled 'Enabling Trusted Digital Health Research: A Scalable Data Governance Framework for Smart-Health'. The presentation included how Data Connect is used within the project.
- Ciarán McInerney presenting an update on the SDEC project titled 'Defining and Classifying Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) in England'.
- Jo Coster presented 'Patient and Public Involvement in Co-producing and Interpreting Research: Lessons from Enhanced Access Hub Study'.
Posters:
- Charlotte Cotterill and Katie Zwerger-Catley represented the Long Lies team with a poster and elevator pitch detailing the tension points between ambulance services and care organisations across the UK when managing pre-hospital care of patients experiencing a long lie after a fall. They won second prize in the ECR/Technical poster category for their poster.
Workshops:
- Jo Coster led the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Workshop alongside PPIE experts and Community Link Workers who support studies in the department and across Sheffield.
