Bribery of Public Officials-a comparison between the UK, US and China

Background and aims of the project

As one of the most typical forms of corruption, bribery is a global problem which requires collaboration between different countries; such collaboration is likely to achieve better outcomes if there is a higher level of mutual understanding of each other’s laws.

This comparative study will examine the criminal law solutions to bribery of public officials in the UK, US and China, and to provide nuanced analyses on whether the grey-area bribery can be effectively dealt with by current law. It is hoped that this project will contribute to stimulating interest in, and engagement with, the study of comparative criminal law between the UK, US and China.
