Students at the Albert Dock in Liverpool

Twelve fantastic students joined three of our team for a two-day trip to Liverpool.

On day one we travelled together by train from Sheffield, before experiencing Liverpool’s general culture - from The Beatles to Liverpool and Everton football clubs - via museums and galleries.

A short ferry ride across the River Mersey and back gave a fresh perspective on the city, followed by a walk through Albert Dock and on to a food hall for an evening meal.

We stayed in student accommodation at Liverpool Hope University, then on day two learnt more about the city’s Christian heritage by visiting Liverpool Cathedral (which is Anglican/Church of England) and Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral (which is Roman Catholic).

For those who wanted to, the final landmark was Anfield - the home of Liverpool Football Club - with views across Stanley Park of Everton’s now former ground Goodison Park.

Throughout the trip Jeremy Clines gave excellent commentary of the city's heritage and how it continues to be key to the North of England.

Funding from the Sir Henry Stephenson Endowment Trust and, separately, a student cost of living budget made the trip possible, and meant it was heavily subsidised for the students so that cost was no barrier.
